DISCERNMENT MUST GUIDE COMPASSION
A good heart can mistake someone’s desire for relief for a commitment to change. You can sacrifice greatly to rescue someone, only to watch them return to what you helped them escape. Compassion should remain generous, but discernment must guide it. Help those willing to participate in their own rescue; otherwise, you may only be protecting them from the consequences they require to change.
